Out of all of the U.S. Armed Services, the Air Force Services agency runs some of the best base lodging. The USAF Services agency provides support to Airmen and families in need of on base temporary lodging facilities while in a TDY or PCS status, or for recreational use. U.S. Air Force enlisted and officer basic quarters on base are branded as Air Force Inns.
Air Force Lodging Inns
The Air Force Inns run by the MWR services are available to active duty, reservists and air guard personnel, as well as military retirees and dependants. Much like a standard hotel, over the years most of the inns have been very well maintained by the Air Force services agency. Because of a high standard of upkeep of the on base lodging facilities over the years, the Air Force decided not to privatize any of their housing or lodging like the Army did under the Army Privatization of Base Lodging under the PAL program.
Air Force Base Lodging Rates
Lodging rates for staying in an Air Force Inn and Suites facility are generally at the Per Diem Lodging Rate authorized for travel to the local area. Because of the quality of the inns, most travelers may simply choose to stay on base to be closer to work, where others may prefer to stay off base in the local area for more privacy or to be closer to restaurants and nightlife.
